My Miami & Bahamas Trip with the Kids - By Ashleigh 🌴✨
I’ve just got back from one of those trips that you sit and think… wow, did that really just happen? The Bahamas had been on my list for a while, and I finally did it, taking my two kids (11 and 5) along for the adventure. And honestly, it was everything I hoped it would be and more.
First Stop… Miami 🇺🇸
Before heading to the Bahamas, we stopped in Miami for 3 nights and I’m so glad we did. It broke the journey up perfectly and gave us a completely different vibe before heading into full relaxation mode.
Miami was such a hit with the kids. The beaches, the atmosphere, the food… it just had that fun, lively feel. It’s one of those places that works so well as part of a twin-centre trip and I’d 100% do it again. The vibe was a mixture of Spain, Dubai and Orlando so was really different! I wasn't sure what I would think to it but I actually loved it and can't wait to go back. We stayed in South beach , but I preffered North Beach area, an amazing vibe to it!
Next stop - Welcome to Paradise… The Bahamas 🌊☀️
We stayed at the British Colonial Nassau, right in downtown Nassau and the location was honestly perfect, especially travelling with children.

The beaches… I can’t even explain how beautiful they are. Proper white sand, crystal clear blue water, the kind you see on postcards and think it can’t actually look like that in real life. It does. Even better.
The kids absolutely loved it. Safe, calm waters, plenty of space to just enjoy it without it feeling overcrowded. It’s one of those places where you can properly switch off.
The Highlight… Swimming with the Pigs 🐷💦
I had seen this all over social media and always wondered if it would live up to the hype. It really did.

Swimming with the pigs was hands down the highlight of the whole trip. Such a surreal experience and something the kids will never forget. It’s one of those proper once-in-a-lifetime moments that makes the whole holiday feel extra special.
Location, Location, Location 📍
One of the best things about staying at the British Colonial was how much we could do on foot.
We were right near Arawak Cay Fish Fry which is an absolute must. The food there was unreal. Proper local dishes, loads of choice, really relaxed atmosphere. Perfect for evenings without needing to go far.
We also walked to the Queen's Staircase which is such a nice little activity to break up the beach days. Easy to get to, bit of history, and something different for the kids to see.
That’s what I loved most about this trip. It wasn’t just a “sit by the pool” holiday. Everything was close, easy, and stress free, which makes a massive difference when you’re travelling with children.
Travelling Alone with Kids ✈️👩👧👦
I know a lot of people ask me how I do trips like this on my own with the kids.
It’s not always easy, but it’s so worth it. You just get on with it, plan properly, and honestly people are so helpful when you’re travelling. The kids adapt so quickly and seeing the world through their eyes makes it even better.
Final Thoughts 💭
This trip had the perfect mix of everything. A bit of city, a bit of adventure, and a lot of relaxation.
Miami gave us that fun, busy start, and the Bahamas gave us the calm, beautiful escape. The beaches are some of the best I’ve ever seen, the water is unreal, and the experiences like swimming with the pigs just take it to another level.
It’s definitely one I’d recommend, especially as a twin centre. And yes, I’d go back in a heartbeat 💗
