I’ve Found My New Favourite Place in Europe 🇮🇹❤️

Sorrento, you’ve completely stolen my heart.

I’ve been lucky enough to visit some incredible places around Europe over the years, but there is just something about Sorrento that feels different. The moment I arrived, I knew I was somewhere special, and I can honestly say this is now my favourite place in Europe. I’ll definitely be back.

Everywhere you look there are picture perfect views. Colourful buildings clinging to cliffs, crystal clear sea, lemon trees around every corner and the most incredible sunsets. It feels like you’re walking around inside a postcard.

One of my absolute highlights was visiting the famous lagoon, Bagni Regina Giovanna. If you’re planning a visit, go before midday as it gets much busier later on. Be prepared for quite a lot of walking and plenty of steps, but trust me, every single one is worth it. The views along the walk are breathtaking and when you finally reach the lagoon, it’s simply incredible. The water is crystal clear, the setting is peaceful and it one of Sorrento’s hidden gems. There’s even a lovely terrace bar on the way down where you can stop and take in the views.

I also had one of the best dining experiences I’ve ever had at Terrazza Bosquet at the Grand Hotel Excelsior Vittoria. The views were out of this world, overlooking the Bay of Naples. The service was genuine five star butler style service without feeling stuffy or pretentious. The staff couldn’t do enough for you, from carrying bags to the little touches like handbag hooks at the table. The atmosphere was elegant yet relaxed, with staff dressed immaculately in white tuxedos. The food was exceptional and surprisingly good value considering the setting and experience. Even if you’re not dining, I would highly recommend visiting the terrace bar for a drink and soaking up the incredible views.

For my stay, I chose Villaggio Verde and it was absolutely perfect. The accommodation is made up of charming little cabins surrounded by beautiful gardens and greenery, creating a peaceful escape from the busy centre. The staff were so welcoming and genuinely lovely throughout my stay. Best of all, it was only around a five minute walk into the centre of Sorrento, making it the perfect location for exploring while still feeling quiet and relaxing.

During my trip, I also took a boat excursion to Positano and Amalfi, and both were every bit as beautiful as you’d imagine. Seeing the coastline from the water was an experience in itself. Positano is effortlessly glamorous, with its colourful buildings cascading down the cliffs, whilst Amalfi offers stunning architecture, charming streets and that classic Italian atmosphere. Both are absolutely worth visiting and made for a fantastic day trip.

I didn’t have time to go to Capri or Pompeii, but both very easy to do, next time for me!

Another highlight was spending time at a beach club on the harbour. The atmosphere was brilliant, relaxed during the day but with a great social vibe. Sitting by the water with a cocktail in hand, watching boats come and go, felt like the perfect way to experience the Italian coast.

And then there’s the food.

I don’t think I had a bad meal the entire trip. Fresh seafood, homemade pasta, pizzas, lemon desserts and endless Aperol Spritzes. Yes, I’m suffering today! 🤦‍♀️😅

Every meal felt like an occasion and every restaurant seemed to have another incredible view.

Sorrento is one of those places that somehow exceeds expectations. The photos are beautiful, but they still don’t do it justice. The views, the food, the people, the atmosphere and the coastline all combine to create something truly special.

It’s been on my bucket list for years, and I cannot believe that it’s took me all this time to do it! I will now genuinely struggle going anywhere else! 🥰🇮🇹
